With a background in art and design, Yie Lim graduated from University of Technology Sydney with a degree in Visual Communications (Hons), specialising in Photography. She has been a freelance photographer for over 11 years, specialising in portraits, fashion, documentary and film stills. She is particularly fascinated with photographing people, which stems from her childhood passion for drawing portraits.

Her first solo exhibition, Lost & Found: A Portrait of Vietnam (April 2005) at Disc Gallery in Sydney was reviewed and published in the Sydney Morning Herald, Sunday Telegraph and Capture magazine. The exhibition featured photographs taken in Vietnam between 2002 and 2004.

In 2003, Yie's work was selected from hundreds of contributions for exhibition through the Noise Festival and was published in the prestigious Black+White and IDN (International Designer's Network) magazines. She also participated in a group fundraising exhibition (for the Australian Wildlife Society), Treeson, at the Knot Gallery in 2004.

She is currently based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
